GEOMAGNETIC EFFECT DURING THE EARTHQUAKE OF HUANGHAI, NEAR JIANGSU PROVINCE

With the Geomagnetic anomlies before the Ms=6.0 earthquake of Liyaing, Jiangsu Province observed, the geomagnetic anomalies of the vertical component before the Hu-anghai earthquake (Ms=6.2), near Jiangsu were also observed at the Jianggang, Haian, and Sheyang geoxnag netic stations which are about 70 km, 110 km, and 130 km respectively from the epicentral area. The Jianggang and Haian anomelies are positive, while that at Sheyang is negative. Arough computation has been made in terms of the Dilatancy-magnetic effect suggested by Qi Guizhong with result in accordance with observation.In this paper, it is suggested that a dense network for observation of the geomagnetic vertical component may catch gemagnetic anomalies associated with earthquakes, and improve the effectiveness of earthquake prediction by geomagnetic observation.
