Abstract:
In this paper, the North China tectonic region is divided into 6 seismic belts,i.e., Yinchuan-Hetao seismic belt, Fengwei belt, Hebei plain belt, East Qingling-Dabie belt, Tanlu belt and Downstream of Yangzi river-Yellow Sea seismic belt. Based on the difference in tectonic characteristics and seismic activity, the Fengwei seismic belt could be subdivided into Yanqing-Daixian segment, Yuanping-Xiangfen segment and Houma-Weihe segment; Hebei plain seismic belt into Sanhe-Laishui segment, Tangshan-Xingtai segment and Anyang-Chengwu segment; Tanlu seismic belt into Kaiyuan-Liaodong bay segment, Bohai segment, Weifang-Jiashan segment and Jiashan-Guangji segment; and Yinchuan-Hetao seismic belt is preliminarily subdivided into Yinchuan segment and Hetao segment. In addition, the problems such as the relation between southern border of Heibei Plain seimic belt and East Qinling-Dabie belt, the identification of seismic belt segments with different earthquake sequence type, e.g., single mainshock type or multimainshock type, and the possible segments with potential strong earthquake, are tentatively discussed.Key words:North China tectonic region;seismic belt; segmentation; mainshock type;multiple mainshock type;strong earthquakes
