Abstract: In this paper the characteristics of two small earthquake swarms at Miaodao Archipelago, Shandong in Spring 1976, have been analysed. Earthquake source parameters, of a part of both swarms, velocity ratio, amplitude ratio of P, S waves and focal mechanism solutions are given. Finally, these two small earthquake swarms are compared with the foreshock sequence of the 1975 M=7.3 Haicheng earthquake for their difference and similarity.
