Abstract: Recently,through investigation of the seismology and hydrogeology of the Wujiangdu-re-servoir and Wujiangdu drainage area,in this paper we preliminarily explored the cause of the formation and the inducing conditions for the Wujiangdu-reservoir earthquake with the aid of photoelastic experiment and focal mechanism solutions. A new catlog of the Wujiangdu-reservoir earthquakes is compiled by analysing and colleting the seismograms (1981-1985) from the said area.
