Analysis on seismic coda Q in a region nearby Kunming station

This study uses the single scattering model of seismic coda waves proposed by Aki and Chouet. 546 broadband seismic records from 182 earthquakes nearby Kunming station, with epicentral distances less than 200 km, were downloaded from IRIS website. According to epicenter distances and earthquake clusters, earthquakes in 6 sub regions were selected for studying coda Qcin the volume of corresponding scattering ellipsoids. The calculatedQ0 values andeta; factors are about 40mdash;55 and 0.96mdash;1.06, respectively, suggesting that the study region is a tectonically active zone characterized with low Q0 and high eta;value.
